Legislature to discuss development of Dodi Island as tourist destination
The Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Volta River Authority, is inviting members of the Legislature to the Dodi Islands on December 17 to discuss ways of developing the island into an enviable tourist destination in Ghana.
The two-hour cruise to the island would provide some relaxation to the Parliamentairians, a statement issued in Accra on Wednesday by the Ministry of Tourism said.
It said the event, an initiative of the Sector Minister, Ms Akua Sena Dansua, was also to instill in Ghanaians, especially those with busy schedules, the need to make time for recreation, relaxation and amusement.
The Sector Minister said such trips to tourist sites were aimed at exposing policy makers and Corporate Ghana to some potential investment opportunities in the sector, and thereby attract the needed capital investment.
The Ministry, in September, organised a similar programme dubbed “Ambassadorial Tour” for members of the Diplomatic Corps and the media as part of the World Tourism Day Celebrations.
The tour, the first of its kind, took the delegation to the Kpando Grottos, the Wli Falls, and the Kpando-Torkor Landing site.
The statement said members of the delegation expressed the need for similar tours in future, among other things.
