Protect and strengthen the dignity of the chieftaincy institution – Omanhene
Osagyefo Dr. Kwamena Enimil VI, Omanhene of Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, has said traditional rulers should protect and strengthen chieftaincy institutions in their various communities.
He said to enrich the Ghanaian literature, traditional rulers should cultivate the habit of conducting regular research about chieftaincy, traditions, customs and local folklore.
Osargyefo Dr. Enimil VI said this on Wednesday when he addressed the end-of-year general meeting of chiefs at the Wassa Fiase Traditional Council in Tarkwa.
According to the Omanhene, to promote effective interaction between traditional rulers from different communities, the Wassa Fiase Traditional Council had formed a Non-Governmental Organization known as the Association for Chieftaincy Conflict Resolution and Prevention (ACCRP).
He said the aim of the Association which was a non profit making organization, was to encourage dialogue between chiefs and queenmothers who found themselves in dispute with one another as well as the general welfare of traditional rulers.
Osargyefo Enimil said the membership of the Association was opened to all chiefs and queenmother sin the Western and Central Regions as well as persons, chiefs and queenmothers outside the two regions.
He entreated chiefs and queenmothers within the Wassa Fiase Traditional area to embrace the Association as it will be a tool to disseminate information by means of organizing workshops and seminars about the role of chieftaincy in modern society.
The Omanhene entreated the chiefs to advice their subjects to celebrate the Christmas festivity in moderation devoid of violence and other negative activities that could mar the beauty and purpose of Christmas.
