Ghana Tennis Association to organize international coaching, officiating courses
The Ghana Tennis Association (GTA) in collaboration with the International Tennis Federation and ‘Tennis Without Borders Foundation’, United States of America (USA) are to organize a free international coaching course for coaches in the country, next year.
The course, which will be held between January 3-12, 2012 at the Accra Sports Stadium, will be under the instructions of a renowned USA professional tennis coach / instructor and president of Tennis Without Boarders Foundation, Kelly Gunterman.
Mr. Gunterman, who doubles as the Director of Tennis at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation in Florida, USA with 15 years experience in coaching, is also expected to organize some series of training sessions with the youth during his stay in the country.
A statement from the secretariat of the GTA copied to GNA Sports, said the ten-day coaching course will include a free 3-day tennis clinic for the youth from ages (10-18) which will be from the 5th to the 7th of January 2012 at the Accra Sports Stadium tennis courts.
It said the tennis clinic forms part of the ITF Level 1 coaching course practical demonstration. Successful candidates will be awarded with an ITF Level 1 Certificate.
The statement added that registration for the course has commenced and will end on 22nd December 2011.
Similarly, the Association will also organize International Officiating Course in collaboration with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) from 13-17 January 2012 at the National Sports College, Winneba.
It added that successful candidates will be awarded with an ITF Level 1 certificate.
The statement said, registration for the course opens from 23rd December 2011 and ends on 4th January 2012
