ABL constructs $2.5m opaque Chibuku drink plant

Chibuku has for a very long time been one of the biggest brands of beer in South Africa.

When it was introduced in Ghana, which happens to be the fifth country where you can find Chibuku drink, it was well accepted by the consumers. This is because, “it is made of traditional ingredients and reflects Africa heritage”, Operations Director in Charge of Chibuku project at Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) – Ben Afakey has said.

“We have grown our product from 3000 through 6000 to 9000 litres of production a day and still growing because the demand is high. Our production capacity cannot meet the ever increasing demand, that is why we are putting up the new opaque plant in order to satisfy our loyal consumers” , Afakey revealed.

According to the Corporate and Legal Affairs Director of ABL, Ms Adjoba Kyiamah, the drink is made with maize and sorghum and comes in one litre a conic pack, targeted at consumers at the lower end of the market.

Afakey hinted that, the installation of the 100,000 hectolitres capacity plant would be done in January and production would start in February.

There are many breweries operating in Nigeria with their annual production capacity of close to 20 million hectolitres.
