Effutu Assembly organises forum

The Effutu Municipal Assembly has within the last three years undertaken development projects to improve the living conditions of the people.

These include the construction of roads, school building and the distribution of 6,299 school uniforms and 4,900 exercise books to school children in basic schools in the area.

The Municipal chief Executive, Nii Ephraim, who made these known at forum in Winneba, said with support from Government, the assembly also constructed 10 school buildings and two teachers’ quarters and distributed 562 tables and chairs to basic schools.

The forum attracted traditional authorities, Unit Committee members, woman groups, People Leaving with Disabilities, heads of department, assembly members and other opinion leaders.

Topics discussed were the municipal composite budget for 2012, 2012 annual action plan for 2012, decentralization policy framework, waste management and street naming and payment of property rate.

According to Nii Ephraim, the assembly in 2009 spent GH¢150,000.00 to clear refuse, which was partly the cause of typhoid, malaria and diarrhea.

He said Government through the Ministry of Health with support from the Netherlands Government has constructed a complex Art Trauma Centre in Winneba.

Nii Ephraim said next year, the assembly would construct classroom blocks, buy school furniture, one cesspit emptier, try-cycles, waste management equipment, construct  Information and Communication Centres and complete a three-storey office complex block.
