Ghanaians should rise above religious, ethnic differences – Dr Yinkah-Sarfo
The Right Reverend Dr Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo, Anglican bishop of Kumasi, has appealed to Ghanaians to rise above religious, ethnic and political differences to sustain the nation’s peace and stability.
He said “irrespective of whatever religion we belong to, whatever our political persuasions may be, let us come together and do the very things that we do for the whole world to appreciate. The need to ensure that the country remains peaceful is non-negotiable”.
Delivering a Christmas message at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Kumasi, he said: “Ghana is our country, we cannot run away to any other country and that is why we must keep it safe.”
He also underlined the need for all Ghanaians to pray hard to God for the success of the next year’s general elections and prevent confusion.
The Rt Rev Dr Yinkah-Sarfo invited Christians to actively participate in the development of their communities.
At a Christmas-eve “watch night service” at the Brotherhood Church at South Suntreso, the Spiritual Head and Primate, Rev Seth K. Adofo, admonished Christians to lead lives worthy of emulation.
They should also pray incessantly for God’s guidance and spiritual development.
He said the celebration of the birth of Christ should motivate them to be more supportive and generous to the needy and the poor in society.
“God does not discriminate in showing his mercies and grace to people”, he said and asked Christians to remain steadfast and confident that God was on their side.
