Police commended for traffic control in Koforidua

The Eastern Regional Police Command has been commended for the efficient manner it supervised vehicular traffic control in the Koforidua Municipality during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Mr Solomon Djaba-Mensah, a former Eastern Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), noted that the effort of the Police made traffic to flow to the admiration of all.

In a letter of commendation to the Police, a copy of which was made available to the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua, Mr Djaba-Mensah indicated that the presence of the Koforidua Polytechnic and the All Nations University had increased the population of the Koforidua Municipality.

He said that had also attracted a number of traders into the town.

Mr Djaba-Mensah noted that before the Christmas holidays some traders took over the inner city walkways, forcing pedestrians unto the streets and therefore made the movement of vehicles very difficult.

He said due to that situation, many motorists and commuters started avoiding the business centre fearing that the traffic situation would worsen with the coming of the Christmas festivities.

Mr Djaba-Mensah said to the surprise of all, the Police got onto the streets a week before the Christmas holidays and restored sanity.

“What impressed me most was the presence and involvement of very high ranking Police officers in the thick of affairs, which brought relief to all road users in the Koforidua Municipality”.
