Swiss Red Cross donates to Tamale Health Directorate
The Swiss Red Cross has donated a Toyota vehicle and other assorted eye equipments valued at GH¢100,000 to the Regional Directorate of Health in Tamale.
The eye equipments include: slit lamps, ophthalmoscopes and minor surgical sets.
Mr Addae Kyereme, Country Representative of the Swiss Red Cross who made the presentation, said the organization had over the years assisted the health sector in the Northern Region to enable it offer quality health delivery to the people.
He said the organization would continue to assist the Regional Health Directorate, especially in the area of eye care to help prevent blindness.
Mr Kofi Addo, Secretary General of the Ghana Red Cross, appealed to the authorities of health to ensure that the items were properly used to ensure their long life span.
Dr Akwasi Twumasi, Regional Director of Health Services, appealed to the Red Cross to assist the region to upgrade the skills of some of the nurses in the region to enable them render better services to patients.
He also appealed to the organization to assist them attract ophthalmologists to the region and help provide infrastructure for the health sector in the region.
