Teacher remanded for defiling two pupils
Claude Yankey, a teacher, who allegedly defiled two pupils on a number of occasions, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Charged with two counts of defilement, Yankey pleaded not guilty and the Court remanded him into Police custody to reappear on February 7.
The victims, both 14, were said to have gone to visit the teacher who had absented himself for four days from school.
Yankey, aged 19, allegedly clandestinely managed to defile them on separate occasions.
Chief Inspector I.A.A. Ahor, told the Court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava that the complainant was a school proprietor based in Accra.
Chief Inspector Ahor said the victims were both at Junior High School.
During September last year, Yankey absented himself from school and this prompted the pupils to go and look for him.
Yankey, the prosecutor said, took advantage of the one of the victims and had sex with her on three occasions.
The Prosecutor said the second victim also went to Yankey with the intent of collecting something from him but ended up being defiled on two occasions.
The proprietor of the school got wind of the incidents on January 23, this year, and quizzed the victims over it and they mentioned the name of the accused. Accused also admitted the offence.
The matter was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).
