Private schools told to operate strictly within Ghana Education Service regulations

Private schools have been urged to ensure that they operate strictly within the regulations and guidelines of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Nana Adu Boateng, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS), said this was necessary for the promotion of best practices.

He said this when speaking at the annual week celebration of the association at Abuakwa.

Nana Boateng said the private sector was making a significant contribution towards the development of the country’s education and appealed to the GES to do more to assist them to upgrade the professional competence of their teachers through in-service training courses.

Nana Boateng said it was unfair when private school teachers are made to bear the cost of training courses run by the Service, while their counterparts in the public schools pay nothing.

He said this would have to change considering the enormous role they were playing to bring education to all children.

Nana Boateng encouraged teachers in private schools to continue to work hard with a passion for the job in order to help maintain the excellent academic performance of their schools.
