Re-name Kotoka International Airport after Kwame Nkrumah – Group

The Interim Coordinating Committee of the re-registered Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute (KNII), on Friday reiterated the call to re-name Kotoka International Airport after Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s First President.

The Committee is proposing the name – “Kwame Nkrumah International Airport” as a monumental honour.

A statement issued in Accra by Mr Ben Anyagre on behalf of the Committee said  all past leaders, who had heeded to democratic tenets of the 1992 Constitution by way of handing over power peacefully should be applauded and honoured.

It suggested that the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale should be named after President Jerry John Rawlings for opening up development in the Northern Sector.

The statement said former President John Agyekum Kufour Centre for Leadership, Governance and Development should be boosted with the needed resources to make it sustainable, to deepen the democratic path and process of Ghana.

“We earnestly appeal to President John Evans Atta Mills to put in motion our request as a good sign of a great legacy for generations to emulate and chart towards making Ghana achieve her dream of a prosperous nation as envisaged by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.”
