CPP ends eight-year leadership stalemate in Volta Region
The Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) has resolved its eight year-old leadership stalemate in the Volta Region with the election and inauguration of new regional executive committee at its Regional Congress in Ho on Saturday.
“Stand firm and strong”, Ms Yaba Samia Nkrumah, Chairperson of the Party told the new team when she swore it into office.
The Chairman of the new executive committee is Mr Vincent Norgbedzi with Mr Thomas Ntumy, Mr Moses Abuya and Mr Emmanuel Worname occupying First and Second Vice-Chairmen and Secretary positions respectively.
“No more divisions, no more disunity”, Ms Nkrumah declared, promising “we will contact all the old executives” who she said were still relevant to the cause of the Party.
Ms Nkrumah charged the new leaders to focus on resource mobilization and identification of credible parliamentary candidates and “winnable” constituencies in the region.
She advised them to begin by winning their close relatives and circle of friends and potential admirers and sympathisers and encourage them to win others to the cause of the CPP.
“There is victory for us. We are not late please keep the faith don’t lose heart. We have a political voice that speaks for the people”, she declared.
Speaking on behalf of the new executives, Mr Norgbedzi said, “Today is the beginning of the revival of the CPP in the Volta Region and Ghana.”
“Events of eight years ago will be forgotten. Never again will we resolve our differences in court.”
Mr Norgbedzi said, “In the CPP, every member is an organizer and called on all members to begin organising and mobilising from the polling stations.
