Ghana pays respect to ‘patriotic’ 14-year-old late Goni Etornam

Ghana observed a minute’s silence in memory of the late Goni Etorman, the 14-year-old student of the Ho Fiave Seventh Day Adventist Junior High School, who collapsed and died while rehearsing for the 55th Independence Day march past in the Volta Region.

Before his anniversary speech, Ghana’s President, Prof. John Atta Mills today March 6, 2012 at the Independence Square in Accra said “Let me start off by asking that we solemnly observe a one minute silence in memory of 14-year-old Goni Etornam, of the Ho Fiave Seventh Day Adventist Junior High School, who passed away while joining her school mates rehearse for this anniversary parade.”

President Mills said Goni Etornam will be “remembered for her patriotic zeal to serve her nation”.

The President expressed his condolences to the bereaved family of Etornam and the entire staff and students of her school.

    That is a mark of a good president. May her soul rest in peace. A word of caution for the teachers to also examined healthy students and pupils at all all times to engage in these activities. My condolence to the family eg the parents and her siblings.
