Veep commissions nine MiDA road projects totalling 110.5 kilometres

Vice President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday gave the assurance that the next phase of the Millennium Challenge Account would be used to generate more power for both domestic consumption and export.

He said the Northern sector, under the Savannah Development Authority (SADA), would be significant beneficiaries of the facility.

Vice President Mahama announced this when he commissioned nine roads under the Millennium Development Authority in the Savalugu-Nanton Municipality.

The project totalling 110.5 kilometres, would facilitate the movement of passengers and food stuff from the rural areas to the marketing centres.

Vice President Mahama called on the people to respect road and traffic regulations to avoid rampant accidents that occur anytime roads were worked on.

He urged them to participate effectively in the on-going biometric registration exercise in order to enfranchise themselves for subsequent elections.

Mr Martin Eson-Benjamin, Chief Executive Officer of Millennium Development Authority said the roads would enhance efficiencies and reduce transportation costs of farmers, output buyers and processors.

He said the roads would facilitate the achievement of most of the millennium goals, especially health care and poverty reduction among farmers.
