Wide ICT knowledge gap between young people and adults – Expert

Mr Jon Gosier, Director of African Solutions for African Problems (APPS 4 Africa), on Thursday observed that there was a big gap between adults and young people, regarding knowledge on Information Communication Technology (ICT).

He said: “While the young show a lot of interest in ICT, with many of them being conversant with it, the elderly do not appear to be all that keen to learn ICT.”

Mr Gosier made the observation in an interview with Ghana News Agency, at the end of a conference dubbed, “International Development-African led Solutions” in Accra.

He said that ICT had come to stay, therefore, in the modern world, it was impossible to “Think development without thinking ICT”.

Mr Gosier said such conferences were organised periodically by APPS 4 Africa, to bring together African Ministers of State as well as other stakeholders, to deliberate on how best “to source out solutions from innovative minds”  that could best be used in solving problems that confront Africa.

He said apart from policymakers, involving Africans, who were directly affected by the issues that culminated into the problems, became possible to suggest solutions that were practical and relevant to the issues at stake.
