Cocoa trader Cargill gives 100,000 educational books to Ghana schools

Cargill’s cocoa and chocolate business in Ghana is supporting a project with Books for Africa to deliver over 100,000 educational books to schools in Ghana.

The project is worth $77,250, said Cargill in a statement April 11, 2012 adding they “are predominantly textbooks and have been chosen specifically to support the local schools’ curriculums”.

The books will be distributed among the local schools in Tema.

The company said the donation will help promote literacy in Ghana as 27 local primary and secondary schools will be provided with the much needed educational resources.

“We are extremely pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile project, providing key educational resources to schools in our local cocoa communities,” Kojo Amoo-Gottfried, Managing Director for Cargill Ghana was quoted as saying.
