Pan-African Business Forum says it controls about 37% of businesses in Africa
The Pan-African Business Forum, the umbrella organisation for over 350 businessmen and professionals, controls about 37% of business in Africa, its Executive President, Prince Prosper Ladislas Agbesi has said.
The Forum made this known in Accra at a press conference May 14, 2012 after declaring its support for former South African Home Affairs Minister – Dr. Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma to contest the Chairmanship position of the African Union Commission (AUC) this June.
“A vote for Dr. Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma for the AUC Chairman position is a vote for new impetus for economic development of Africa,” Agbesi said on the background of the Forum’s influence in business activities on the continent.
Early this year, Dr. Dlamini-Zuma stood against incumbent AUC Chairman Jean Ping but neither Ping nor Dlamini-Zuma managed to secure the two-thirds of votes needed to win, and a re-run has been slated for June.
