Tema Metro opens 16-seater rehabilitated market at Manhean
The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), on Thursday inaugurated a 16-seater rehabilitated shed for fish mongers at the Tema Manhean market.
The shed which was damaged during a rain storm that destroyed a number of houses in the market in 2011, was rehabilitated at a cost of GH¢20,000.
Mr Robert Kempes Ofosuware, Metropolitan Chief Executive who inaugurated the shed said the rehabilitation was part of the Assembly’s resolve to ensure that all sectors of the Metropolis got their fair share of revenue generated.
Mr Ofosuware said the TMA had plans to face-lift the market by constructing shops to replace the sheds.
He added that the Assembly was also putting bitumen on some roads in the Tema Manhean Township.
Nii Adjei Kraku II, Tema Mantse, thanked the Assembly for the rehabilitation, and pleaded with the authorities to provide more amenities to the market.
He advised the market women to maintain the sheds properly, and pay their tolls promptly.
