Ghana loses $1.1b of foreign reserves

Ghana’s foreign reserves fell to $4.3 billion as at June 8, 2012 from $5.4 billion in December 2011, the central bank has said.

The country’s foreign reserves is less $1.1 billion between the December 2011- June 2012 time periods.

Speaking to journalists in Accra, Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Kwesi Amissah-Arthur said the country’s $5.4 billion gross reserves is equivalent to “2.5 months imports cover” of goods and services.

    Politicians change them into US dollars that is why Atta Mills keep going to US where he get the chance to spen US dollars. Ghana Cedi is dropping because politicians change their money into US dollas. This trent will continue until after elections with new govenment
