37 Military Hospital Nursing Traning College Board reconstituted

The five-member Board of Governors of 37 Military Hospital Nursing Training College has been reconstituted under the chairmanship of Brigadier General Oppong-Otchere, Director General of the Inspector General Department of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

Other members are, Colonel Augusta Wellington, Principal of the College, Colonel Mercy Yelbert, Matron of the 37 Military Hospital, Mr Kumi Kyeremeh, representative of Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Major Frederick Aboagye, Legal Officer, GAF as Secretary.

A statement from the Public Relations Directorate of the GAF signed by Major F.K.Ampobi and copied to the Ghana News Agency  in Accra on Tuesday said the Board had a three-year term of office and mandated to assist in the efficient management of the College by determining the immediate difficulties facing it and make specific commendations.

“The Board has the mandate to advise the Principal on the management and governance, source for extra funds or resources as well as assist management in the maintenance of discipline in the College”, it said.

The release added that the Board would also help in the training of students at the field and clinical sites by securing accommodation or transport to the sites and assist in establishing linkages with foreign institutions in Europe, US and sister Colleges in Africa.

Other mandates of the Board were to assist secure all properties of the College and foster good relations between it and its major stakeholders, while ensuring that concerns of the College were timely presented to the authorities of GAF through the Department of Medical Services for support.

Inaugurating the Board, Commodore Geoffrey Biekro, Chief of Staff of GAF urged the members to work assiduously to improve the academic and professional standards of the College.
