Rotary Int’l President Tanaka on Ghana peace visit
After assuming office as President of the Rotary International (RI) on July 1, 2012, Japanese-born Sakuji Tanaka has made his first official working visit to Ghana.
On a three-day visit which started July 14 and ends July 17, Mr Tanaka’s trip to the country is focused more on peace enhancement as Rotary has chosen “Peace through Service” as its theme for the year 2012-2013.
He has urged all to work actively towards achieving peace in every community where Rotary is found.
He will today July 15, engage in an interaction with Rotaractors in Ghana on “Peace and how it impacts on our dreams”. The session will be held at the Faculty of Law Auditorium, University of Ghana.
He is expected to advice Rotaractors in the country on how they can maintain the peace that Ghana has enjoyed over the years as the country heads to the 2012 elections.
Also as part of his visit Mr Tanaka will cut the sod for the construction of a vaccine cold room for the storage of various vaccines for immunisation programmes at the Adabraka Polyclinic.
According to organizers of his trip, the RI President will also pay a visit to the La Wireless Early Childhood Centre to inspect the project and donate books.
Mr Tanaka will also present the Charter for the 24th and newest Rotary club in Ghana to the Rotary Club of Accra Spintex Road.
