EP Church to establish two Colleges of Education
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana is to establish at least two Colleges of Education in Ashanti and Brong- Ahafo regions and southern presbyteries during the fourth General Assembly year.
The Church would also establish one Information Communication Technology (ICT) school in the Central Presbytery during the period.
These were among major decisions taken at the end of the Church’s fourth General Assembly held at Dzodze-Penyi under the theme, “Strategic Evangelism for Sustainable Development”.
The Church has two Colleges of Education namely, Amedzofe Training College at Amedzofe and Dambai Training College at Dambai.
The General Assembly said “the Church must generate more funds internally to support her projects through the establishment of the commercial and business unit” of the Church.”
The General Assembly appealed to leaders of the Church at all levels to propagate the importance of members having to contribute towards the Moderator’s Investment Fund.
Each congregation has been mandated to establish an aged centre with support of district and Presbytery administrations.
The Church should revive “effective Bible study and prayer in all her congregations under the supervision of Pastors and Catechists.”
“Strategic evangelism” should be undertaken to the Church’s basic to tertiary educational institutions.
The General Assembly asked all members of the Church to observe two weeks of fasting from November 1-15 towards peaceful elections at the end of the year and would link up with other faith based organisations and civil society groups to “spread the peace message.”
It said education and implementation committees are to be established at national, presbytery, district and local levels to give effect to the major decisions taken by the General Assembly.
