Mr Emil Anornu, Senior Blood Donor Coordinator at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, has appealed to the general public to accept blood donations as the as the process of the blood transfusion was safe.
He said the blood stored at the various blood banks throughout the country went through thorough medical screening and was safe for any individual.
Mr Anornu said this at a blood screening exercise organised by the Church of Christ of the Latter Day Saints at Takoradi in the Western Region.
He expressed unhappiness that that some individuals and religious sects refused blood transfusion even at the peril of their lives saying such groups must rethink through their perception and beliefs.
Mr Yaw Afrifa, Public Affairs Officer of the Church, said the blood donation was a yearly exercise organised by the church to replenish the stock of the blood bank.
