Man U’s Welbeck may play for Ghana
Danny Welbeck is being offered the chance of a World Cup call-up by Ghana.
Both of the Manchester United starlet’s parents were born in Ghana and the national team coaches want him to join their squad for the 2010 qualifying campaign.
The Manchester-born striker has played for England at youth level but could still play for the Ghana.
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson is backing Welbeck, 18, and his other kids to overcome Derby in the second leg of their Carling Cup semi-final.
The United boss said: “They’ll definitely keep playing in the semi-finals, and hopefully carry on right through Wembley. It’d be a great achievement if they could win it.”
Welbeck has rejected a loan move to West Brom to fight for his United place.
